Representing Refugees
Recent policy changes by the government of Canada to refugee policy has sparked an interest for me around the question of biopolitical apparatuses and the regulation of life. This project seeks to examine how we can employ a critique of biopolitics from scholars like Foucault and Agamben in order to understand how bodies interact with borders and in-between spaces like airports, refugee camps, immigrant detention centers etc.
La Segunda Generación
The subject of my doctoral work is an ethnography of second-generation Latino-Canadians. This project seeks to trace the often contradictory and blurry lines and definitions of what constitutes this identity and attempt to place it into the context of multicultural Canada and emerging transnational world.
